HOW DOES IT WORK?

100 Women Who Care Chestermere is a group of women who have committed to give. Four times a year we meet to vote on which charity to donate to. Each member donates to the charity we choose and receives a charitable tax receipt. That's all there is to it!

WHAT EXACTLY AM I COMMITTING TO?

Each member commits to donating $100 four times per year to a charity working in/around Chestermere. There are no other membership fees. Members are also expected to attend 4 meetings per year where we review nominations and choose which charity to donate to.

WHO CAN JOIN?

Anyone who identifies as a woman can join! Membership can be forfeited at any time. We ask that you inform the group administrators in writing if you choose to leave so that we can update our records.

POLICIES & INFORMATION

MEMBERSHIP

Each member commits to donating $100 per meeting, four times a year.
30-day written notice is required to cancel a membership.
Members who miss two consecutive donations will have their membership cancelled.
Memberships are accepted year-round

NOMINATING A CHARITY

Any member who has signed a commitment form and who is current with her donations may nominate a local Charity or Not-For-Profit for consideration at a meeting.
Nominations will close two weeks prior to the meeting date and three organizations will be randomly selected
The three selected organizations will make a five-minute presentation about the organization to the group and a Q&A session will follow.
Any member nominating must specify whether they will speak on behalf of the charity or if they will invite the charity to attend and speak on their own behalf.

MEETINGS

Meetings are usually conducted in one hour or less.
A social time may be organized before or after each meeting.
Each meeting will open with a five-minute update on how the funds donated at the previous meeting were used by the successful organization.
If you are unable to make a meeting, we still expect you to donate to the chosen Charity. You can cast your vote in advance of the meeting or through a proxy.
Members who are unable to attend a meeting are expected to give her cheque to another Member to deliver on her behalf OR;
Members who are absent have 24 hours to confirm an online donation.
Each member will write a cheque for $100 to the organization receiving the most votes at the meeting. Each member will write a cheque for $100 to the organization receiving the most votes at the meeting. Members may also use an online donation platform if the chosen Charity has one.

VOTING

Each member who has signed a commitment form and who is current with her donations may vote for one of the three organizations.
Ties will be decided by further votes. If a tie persists, the membership will vote to either (1) randomly select one of the tied organizations by draw; or (2) divide the group donation equally between the tied organizations.
Members who did not vote for the selected organization agree to make their donation regardless.

CHARITIES

Organizations under consideration must serve the Chestermere area, have charitable status and provide individual tax receipts directly to contributing members.
An organization not selected at one meeting may be submitted again at a subsequent meeting.
A winning organization is not eligible for future consideration for two years but the nominating member may submit the name of another organization.
